PLACING AN ORDER IN GSLE
It is recommended to use Firefox or Chrome to access GSLE.
FIRST TIME SEQUENCING USERS:
You MUST have a NUCore and a GSLE account to submit sequencing orders.
For account setups go to:
http://cgm.northwestern.edu/cores/genomics/place-an-order/account-setup.html
CURRENT SEQUENCING USERS:
If you are logging on to GSLE for the first time, enter your user name and click “Forgot Password” to set your new password.
NU users – Your user name is your net ID.
Non-NU users – Your user name is your email address.
TO PLACE YOUR ORDER FOLLOW STEPS BELOW:
1. Go to GSLE Home Page: http://nu-genomics.genesifter.net/gsle/mainPage
2. Log in using your user name and password.
3. Select “Place Order” from the menu on the left
4. Click on the “Traditional Sequencing Order Forms” icon
5. Select your order form.
A. PRIMER INFORMATION
A. For primers already existing or supplied by the core:
Click “No” to proceed to order information.
B. For new primers:
Click “Yes” to enter your primer information.
{Please refer to the detailed instructions to enter new primers}
B. ORDER INFORMATION
1. Choose your chart sting in the Lab Group field.
2. Enter an Order Name.
3. Choose Template Type.
4. Choose Clean-up Method.
5. Choose Sample Chemistry (Complex Reaction Only)
C. SAMPLE INFORMATION
1. Enter your Sample Range and click “Go”.
{For bulk sample upload please use the detailed instructions.}
2. Fill out sample information fields individually
A. For Comprehensive, Complex Reactions and Large Vector orders enter: Primer, Volume,
Concentration, Vector Size, Nanodrop (if needed) and name of submitter.
B. For Pre-Mix Reaction, Premix Half Plate, Premix Full Plate and Fragment Analysis orders enter:
Sample Name, Total Volume, Primer and name of submitter.
3. Click “Next” to proceed
D. PURCHASING INFORMATION
1. Click on the “Purchasing information” link.
2. Select your name in the “Payer” drop down menu.
3. Select your chart string or account in the “Charge Code” drop down menu.
4. Click “Next”
5. Verify your order information on the Order Details Page and Click “Submit Order”
A confirmation e-mail will be sent to your inbox if your order is submitted successfully.
DOWNLOADING RESULTS
GSLE integrates with FinchTV, a free program for viewing sequencing results.
FinchTV can be downloaded by clicking on the “ Get Finch TV” link at the upper right of any page in GSLE or
by going to http://www.geospiza.com/Products/finchtv.shtml.
1. Log in to GSLE
2. Click “View Folders”.
3. Click on the Folder ID for the order you want to download.
4. Select the files you wish to view or download.
A. To download a single file:
1. Click on the Label for the file you wish to download.
2. Click “Download Chromatogram” to download the chromatogram file.
a. To download the chromatogram as an .ab1 file, click “Download Chromat”. This is
the most common file format used.
b. To download the chromatogram as a .scf file, click the “Convert AB1 to SCF
format” check box and click “Download Chromat”.
c. Additional File types (These file types require specialized software that is not
supported by the genomics core):
i.
To download .fasta files, Click “Nucleotides” check box and click
“Download Sequence”.
ii.
To download .qual files, Click “Quality Scores” check box and click
“Download Sequence”.
iii.
To download amino acid translation in a .txt file, Click “Amino Acid” check
box and click “Download Sequence”.
iv.
To download .Phd files, click “Download .Phd”.
d. Select Open With Windows Explorer (default)
e. Save the files to your computer.
B. To Download Multiple Files:
1. Click on the Label for the file you wish to download.
2. Click “Download Chromatogram” to download the chromatogram file.
a. To download the chromatogram as an .ab1 file, click “Download Chromat”. This is
the most common file format used.
b. To download the chromatogram as a .scf file, click the “Convert AB1 to SCF
format” check box and click “Download Chromat”.
