This course is one of four didactic courses designed for the Radiologic
Technologists Registered (or registry eligible new graduates) in Radiography
through the ARRT. This course is designed for the Technologist who is seeking
one of the following: post primary certification in Computer Tomography (CT)
through the ARRT, employment as a CT technologist, or ARRT category A
continuing education credits. The content is designed to impart an understanding
of the physical principles and instrumentation involved in computed tomography.

Other: Must be eligible to take the certification exam, or be currently
registered in radiography, through the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
 Describe events leading to the discovery of computed tomography and its
evolution
 Describe the components of the CT imaging system
 Explain the functions & types of collimators & detectors used in CT systems
 Define linear attenuation coefficient, algorithm, and filter
 Define and describe the functions of the data acquisition system (DAS) & CT
computer system
 Explain the difference between reconstructing and reformatting an image

projects, presentation, and on-line discussions.
