The Mall of San Juan will be a state-of-the-art, two-level, enclosed mall featuring a 138,000-square-foot Nordstrom and a 100,000-square-foot Saks Fifth Avenue. It will be the first upscale mall in Puerto Rico and the first and only location on the island for both Nordstrom and Saks. The project will also include a hotel and casino. Opening March 26, 2015 We are currently looking for an outstanding Marketing and Sponsorship Director to be part of the Management team at The Mall of San Juan! Job Summary: Responsible for developing and implementing a strategic sponsorship and marketing plan for the center with the result of increased Net Operating Income (NOI), center sales and traffic. Responsible for leadership within the center management team, incorporating direction from the corporate office to achieve the result of superior sponsorship and marketing performance, and positive stakeholder relations. Responsible for managing and enhancing the customer service function in the center, resulting in enhanced sponsorship opportunities. Participates as a member of the management team and performs management duties. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Selling and fulfilling local sponsorship programs (in partnership with the General Manager and the Director of Partnership Relations and Center Sponsorship). Consulting with the Corporate Sponsorship department on all local programs. Accurate sponsorship implementation and cost analysis for each program. New business development of potential sponsors and accountable for entire sales process and negotiations with local sponsors. Maintaining a robust sponsorship pipeline and supporting and flawlessly implementing all corporate sponsorship initiatives. Manages tracking and reporting on results of all local and national sponsorship programs. Interpreting the Center’s market research, including standard and custom studies. Oversee qualitative market research and/or data collection at the Center if necessary and using market research analysis to enhance and/or revise sponsorship and marketing strategies that are in place. Developing, implementing and evaluating the performance of an annual marketing plan and related budget, consulting with the GM and the Director of Center Marketing. The Action Plan may include loyalty marketing, internet marketing, public relations, advertising, special events and entertainment, in-center marketing, décor, sales promotions, employee programs, tourism marketing, etc. Efficient management and flawless execution of corporate-developed marketing initiatives, including segmentation initiatives, interactive initiatives, social media strategies, mobile marketing strategies and Holiday programs. Efficient management of people, projects and resources, including the marketing staff, outside vendors, consultants, customer service contractors, and advertising and public relations agencies. Demonstrating excellent and cost efficient time, project and people management skills. Providing relevant coaching and training for direct reports that are interested in and qualified for advancement opportunities. Development of annual and monthly marketing budgets and preparation of budget realignments, two to three times per year, while utilizing the Budget Plus system, and for keeping costs in line with the budget. Design systems to gauge program effectiveness against the annual marketing budget. Establishing positive tenant relations and store productivity through retail focused programs consistent with the Marketing Plan strategies. Lead tenant meetings as necessary and encourage tenant participation in center-wide programs. Developing and managing an annual retail-focused publicity plan as part of the marketing plan. Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive media relations and maximizing positive publicity for the center and its stores. Serve as a spokesperson to the media for center stores relating to marketing activities and retail/fashion direction. Manage production of timely, interesting and relevant press releases and follow-up with the media. Support the General Manager in maintaining positive relations with the media on all issues. Planning, coordinating and executing a community relations plan. Network professionally with the appropriate community leaders and institutions. If relevant to marketing strategies, implement community events and support community activities. Attend local community meetings and events. Development and execution of an annual tourism marketing plan in conjunction with corporate tourism strategies that address the center's appropriate visitor markets, whether national/international, regional or local. Develop and manage tourism programs and packages with key industry partners including tour operators, hotels, CVBs, airlines, cruise lines and area attractions. Attend and exhibit at relevant tourism trade shows, manage preparation, scheduling, appointments and follow up. Advocating, initiating and implementing innovative customer service enhancements to the center. Supervise the gift card operation to maximize sales for the center. Monitor the center in collaboration with the General Manager to ensure customer-sensitive issues and problems are addressed promptly. Supervise and train the InfoPlace staff on a regular basis. Participate as an integral member of the total center management team. Perform center management duties monthly and on holidays according to the schedule set by the General Manager. Build and foster positive working relationships with all center and contract staff. Act as the captain of a designated center goal and responsible for achieving that goal. Assist the General Manager in analyzing data and in writing the bi-monthly manager’s report. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Technical competency in all marketing disciplines Strong marketing perspective Proven sales skills Knowledge of a sales process, developing a pipeline, interacting with potential clients and strong negotiating skills Strong computer skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite Strong written and verbal skills Strong presentation and public speaking skills Must have strategic planning and thinking Must be creative and innovative in marketing tactical implementations Must have a high level of initiative Must have a strong sense of judgment Ability to collaborate and work as a team orientation Must have sensitivity in working through a complex and diverse organizational structure Ability to respond to high demands and expectations Experience, Education and Training: Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish Minimum of 3 to 5 years of industry experience is required or equivalent experience in marketing and sponsorship/sales disciplines Management and supervisory experience is required Sales and sponsorship experience is required Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline is required or equivalent education and experience Master’s Degree in a related discipline is preferred CMD designation is a plus Essential Physical Requirements/Working Environment: Ability to use a computer for long periods of time Must be able to sit for extended periods of time Ability to handle documents and files Ability to work well with others Must be able to work under short-term deadlines and work under stress Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds Must be a able to travel occasionally, as required Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time Must be able to stoop, kneel and bend Must be able to arrange displays, collateral and event materials Must be able to navigate event settings, multiple levels of a shopping center and various retail settings on a frequent basis Requires occasional long hours of intense work pace, especially during the Holiday season Ability to work nights and weekend, as required Strong audio and visual acuity is required
