Ibuprofen (PO)
Indication: - PDA closure,
Oral DOSING
Closure of patent ductus arteriosus: - 10mg/kg orally followed by 5mg/kg/dose at 24 and 48 hours.
Route of administration: - PO
Contraindicated
Asthma , urticarial,.
Black box warning
NSAIDs may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic even.
Renal impairment
Hepatic doseadjustment
Adverse effect
If anuria or marked oliguria (urinary output <0.6 mL/kg/hour) is evident at the
scheduled time of the second or third dose, hold dose until renal function returns
to normal. Use is contraindicated in preterm infants with significant renal
impairment.
No specific dose adjustment required.
GI bleeding, acute kidney failure, intestinal perforation, pulmonary hypertension.
Monitoring
GI bleeding and BP serum transaminase, and renal function.
