You can determine which lab test component and how many results to display. The variables are added to the original SmartLink. .labbrief Ex: .labbrief[creatinine:4 Displays a table with component, value, date/time resulted. Here I have the last 4 results for creatinine .lablast or .lastlab .lablast[hgb Displays a table with component name, date/time resulted, value, range, and status Here I have just the most recent Hgb result. .labrcnt .labrcnt[hgb, hct .labrslt .labrslt[bun, glu .labrsltline .labrsltline[bun, creati nine, glu,k,na Recent labs done in the last 72hrs only. You will get an error message if there are no lab results for the component in the last 72 hours. Lab result for letters to pts can only pull in labs done in the last 30 days. It will also reference previous results for the pts if available. Will pull in lab results for letters in a line format. 10/12/2010: BUN 18 mg/dL (Range: 9.8-20.1, 9.8-20.1); Creatinine, Ser 1.1 mg/dL (Range: 0.6-1.1, 0.61.1); Glucose 226 mg/dL* (High; Range: 74-99, 74-99); Potassium 4.5 mmol/L (Range: 3.4-4.8, 3.4-4.8); Sodium 134 mmol/L* (Low; Range: 136-145, 136-145) 9/28/2010: BUN 27 mg/dL* (High; Range: 9.8-20.1, 9.8-20.1); Creatinine, Ser 1.2 mg/dL* (High; Range: 0.6-1.1, 0.6-1.1); Glucose 300 mg/dL* (High; Range: 74-99, 74-99); Potassium 4.7 mmol/L (Range: 3.44.8, 3.4-4.8); Sodium 137 mmol/L (Range: 136-145, 136-145) 1. First, decide what lab component(s) you want. You may need to experiment a few times to see which lab components are accepted and which are not. It will have to be spelled correctly. a. Here are a few that will be accepted: na, ka, cl, creatinine, co2, glu, wbc, hgb, hct, plt, inr, ptt, hgba1c b. It will not accept names such as cbc, bmp, cmp, lft, gfr, pap Second, you will want to specify how many results you want to see. a. Type the component name followed by a colon, then with: i. A number for the number of results you want ii. * for all available results iii. or blank for just the last result mcv:4 Last 4 results for MCV mcv:* All results for MCV mcv Most recent result for MCV 3. You can list as many lab components as you want, separated by commas. Once you hit the space key, it will fill in the SmartLink. If I were seeing my patient for followup of diabetes and wanted to see the last 3 results for her creatinine, all available A1c’s, and just the last glucose value, I would type: .labbrief[creatinine:3,hgba1c:*,glu 2. These next two SmartLinks take different variables. They will accept two parameters, separated by commas, which specify the duration and the format of the output. They are helpful if you do not know what labs the patient had done. For example, a user may enter .LASTLABV[6M,1 1. Duration paramenter: a. The "6M" instructs EpicCare to search 6 months back from the day of the visit the user is presently in to find and display all lab component values in that time period. b. Entry for this parameter may be in the form #D, #W, #M, or #Y. The "#" indicates a number and the D, W, M, Y stand for days, weeks, months, or years respectively. c. If no entry is specified for this parameter (.LASTLABV[,1), or if there are no results that fall within the time period indicated, then EpicCare will display the last known result. 2. The second parameter controls the display of the SmartLink. It accepts a blank entry, "1", or "2". A blank entry will cause EpicCare to display the component name, value, high and low ranges, status and any comments. An entry of "1" will display everything stated above except for the comments. An entry of "2" will cause an abbreviated display of just the name and value for each component. .lastlabv .lastlabv[4w, This SmartLink shows lab results for previous visits. .lastlabg .lastlabg[3w,2 This SmartLink shows lab results for visits on the day of current visit & previous visits.
