Cell Analogies Collage
35 points
1. Draw a plant or animal cell on an 8X11 piece of paper. Include at least 12
of the following structures:
cell membrane
chloroplast
nucleolus
Golgi apparatus
vacuole
cell wall
cytoplasm
nucleus
cytoskeleton
cilia or flagella
mitochondria
lysosome
ribosome
endoplasmic reticulum (smooth & rough)
2. Correctly identify and label your cell as a plant or an animal cell.
3. Find out the function (or primary job) each structure has in the cell.
Create an analogy between the cell part and an everyday object that has
a similar function or use. Be sure to explain your reasoning behind the
analogy.
Example: The nucleus is like a brain because it controls and
coordinates the activities of the whole cell in the same way the
brain controls and coordinates the activities of the body.
4. Paste your cell drawing in the middle of a piece of poster paper or board.
5. Find and paste pictures of your everyday objects around the edges of the
paper. Label the pictures with your neatly written analogies and make a
pointer to the correct structure of your drawing. BE CREATIVE!
Grading Scale:
100-90% Neat, complete, 12+ analogies, explanations, and pictures
89-80%
Neat, complete, 9-11 analogies, explanations, and pictures
79-70%
Complete, but less than 9 analogies
69-60%
Messy, incomplete, or wrong
59-50%
Very messy, many mistakes, incomplete
0%
No collage turned in will result in 0 points.
Your grade will be lowered 10% for every day the project is late.
This is an INDIVIDUAL project; I do not want to grade identical collages. If 2
or more projects are identical the grade will be cut in half!
