Determine the following:
Fraction of the female gender (XX) genotype _____
Percentage of the female gender (XX) phenotype ______%
Fraction of the male gender (XY) genotype _____
Percentage of the male gender (XY) phenotype ______%
Males biologically determine the gender of the baby.
The sperm (male haploid gamete) carries either one X gender chromosome or one Y gender
chromosome.
The egg (female haploid gamete) carries only the X gender chromosome.
When the egg and sperm unite they form a diploid zygote. Under proper pregnancy conditions
the zygote develops into a fetus and eventually a baby will be born.
