May‌‌13,‌‌1940,‌ ‌before‌‌the‌‌bombing‌‌of‌‌Pearl‌‌Harbor‌‌on‌‌December‌‌7,‌‌1941.‌‌Pearl‌‌Harbor‌‌was‌‌a‌
tragic‌‌event‌‌that‌‌happened‌‌s uddenly,‌‌c aused‌‌pain‌‌and‌‌s uffering‌‌and‌‌had‌‌an‌‌unhappy‌‌ending.‌
Honolulu,‌‌Hawaii‌‌December‌‌7,‌‌1941‌‌the‌‌day‌‌of‌‌the‌‌bombing.‌‌It‌‌was‌‌a‌‌s urprise‌‌m ilitary‌

‌ y‌‌the‌‌Imperial‌‌J apanese‌‌Navy‌‌Air‌‌Service‌‌upon‌‌the‌‌United‌‌States,‌‌a‌‌neutral‌‌c ountry‌‌at‌‌
the‌‌time.‌‌It‌‌was‌‌About‌‌8:00am‌‌J apanese‌‌planes‌‌filled‌‌the‌‌s ky‌‌right‌‌over‌‌Pearl‌‌Harbor.‌‌Bombs‌
and‌‌bullets‌‌Rained‌‌down‌‌into‌‌the‌‌s hips.‌‌No‌‌one‌‌was‌‌expecting‌‌the‌‌attack.‌‌A‌‌1,000‌‌pound‌‌bomb‌
smashed‌‌through‌‌the‌‌deck‌‌of‌‌the‌‌USS‌‌Arizona‌‌The‌‌Ship‌‌exploded‌‌and‌‌Sank‌‌with‌‌at‌‌least‌‌1,000‌
men‌‌trapped‌‌inside.‌‌The‌‌bombs‌‌destroyed‌‌20‌‌US‌‌navy‌‌s hips,‌‌Including‌‌8‌‌battleships.‌
In‌‌all,‌‌the‌‌J apanese‌‌attack‌‌on‌‌Pearl‌‌Harbor‌‌destroyed‌‌nearly‌‌20‌‌American‌‌s hips‌‌and‌
more‌‌than‌‌300‌‌airplanes.‌‌Dry‌‌docks‌‌and‌‌airfields‌‌were‌‌destroyed.‌‌M ost‌‌importantly,‌‌2,403‌
sailors,‌‌s oldiers‌‌and‌‌c ivilians‌‌were‌‌k illed‌‌and‌‌about‌‌1,000‌‌people‌‌were‌‌wounded.‌‌As‌‌the‌‌bombs‌
were‌‌c oming‌‌down,‌‌s ailors‌‌were‌‌jumping‌‌into‌‌the‌‌water.‌‌The‌‌water‌‌was‌‌boiling‌‌hot,‌‌k illing‌‌m en‌
one‌‌by‌‌one‌‌as‌‌they‌‌jumped.‌‌O ther‌‌s ailors‌‌were‌‌getting‌‌trapped‌‌in‌‌the‌‌s hips‌‌and‌‌drowning‌‌as‌
they‌‌s ank.‌‌Some‌‌s ailors‌‌even‌‌died‌‌from‌‌s uffocating,‌‌from‌‌the‌‌thick‌‌black‌‌s moke‌‌as‌‌the‌‌s hips‌
burned.‌
Only‌‌a‌‌few‌‌hours‌‌after‌‌the‌‌J apanese‌‌attack‌‌on‌‌Pearl‌‌Harbor,‌‌J apan‌‌declared‌‌war‌‌against‌
the‌‌United‌‌States.‌‌The‌‌United‌‌States‌‌declared‌‌war‌‌on‌‌J apan.‌‌Three‌‌days‌‌later,‌‌after‌‌G ermany‌
and‌‌Italy‌‌declared‌‌war,‌‌the‌‌United‌‌States‌‌became‌‌fully‌‌engaged‌‌in‌‌the‌‌Second‌‌World‌‌War.‌‌in‌
world‌‌war‌‌2‌‌over‌‌74‌‌m illion‌‌people‌‌died.‌‌If‌‌it‌‌wast‌‌for‌‌Pearl‌‌Harbor‌‌we‌‌m ay‌‌have‌‌never‌‌entered‌
World‌‌war‌‌2,‌‌but‌‌k now‌‌one‌‌k nows.‌‌6‌‌y ears‌‌later‌‌world‌‌war‌‌2‌‌was‌‌ended,‌‌by‌‌the‌‌atomic‌‌bomb‌
dropped‌‌on‌‌‌Hiroshima‌‌and‌‌Nagasaki.‌‌The‌‌atomic‌‌bomb‌‌k illed‌‌roughley‌‌140,000‌‌c livins.‌
In‌‌all‌‌this‌‌event‌‌led‌‌us‌‌to‌‌world‌‌war‌‌2.‌‌2,403‌‌people‌‌died,‌‌and‌‌1,000‌‌people‌‌were‌‌injured.‌
