Job Description
JOB TITLE:
Technician Level 3 Senior Authorised person
REPORTS TO:
HV Manager
With 175 turbines and a capacity of 630 megawatts (MW) London Array is the world's largest
offshore wind farm, occupying an area of 100km 2 in the outer Thames Estuary between the Kent
and Essex coasts.
JOB PURPOSE
Delivery of electrical transmission assets maintenance management.
Main Duties





















Being an authorised operator of All London Array high-voltage systems.
Day-to-day maintenance operations of on shore and offshore substations.
Co-ordination and communication with third parties
Co-ordination of Inter-system operational and safety procedures with NGET.
Control of operational procedures related to energisation and de-energisation of all assets.
Act as the Safety representative
Certifying/Mentoring authorised/competent persons to operate on the wind farm.
Implementing and administering the London Array Electrical Safety Rules for work activities.
Senior Authorised Person to 150kV under London Array Safety Rules
Production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements where required
Being the authorised operator of all high-voltage systems, up to and including 400KV, to
perform HV isolations and earthing where required.
Responsible for a team comprising of, SAPs (where necessary), APs and operational
technicians.
Overseeing the 400/150/13.9kV on shore sub-station at Cleve Hill, plus 150/33kV offshore
substation commissioning activities in association with the HV Manager.
operating as a Safety Coordinator/Senior Authorised Person for all cross border/boundary
operational activities.
Preform the role of the Control Engineer.
Undertake High Voltage switching to achieve “safety from the system”.
Respond to system alarms and outages in a timely manner.
Carry out inspections as required.
Planning, co-ordination and supervision of sub-contracted personnel.
Report all activities to the Maintenance Manager for inclusion into the weekly/monthly report.
Participation in an on call roster.
Essential Skills and Experience required undertaking the role








Be able to accommodate weekend, night working and extended hours.
Issue permits for works up 150kV and be approved as Authorised Person up to 400kV
under LAL safety rules.
Excellent safety awareness.
Full driving licence.
Able to complete Climbing and Offshore survival training.

Experience of working in a high voltage substation environment.
