Cardiac Morphology, Gene Expression
and Histology (Core D)
• Description of Core Unit:
• Generate staged mouse and Xenopus embryo RNA
samples.
• Generate paraffin and OCT embedded tissues and
embryos.
• Share expertise in and perform some whole mount
and section in situ hybridizations.
• Perform IHC and histology on tissue and embryo
sections.
Core D Progress Report I
• Successful use of RT-PCR to verify embryonic expression
of Xenopus Mo2L mRNA (Tiziana De Angelis).
• Next: in situ hybridizations (ISH; mouse and Xenopus;
Projects 4 & 5, Ning Dai and Tiziana De Angelis)
including Mo2L and mouse Ehmt1 (Project 4).
• Control probes for mouse in situs obtained from Tom
Lufkin.
• Successful sub-cloning of Xenopus LKB1/XEEK1 in
KmRN3P.
