The revised/new certification requirements Section Action Summary of requirements Paragraph Clause Old requirements = UL1054; New requirements = UL 61058-1 Since the test methods, the test sequence and the evaluation approach are completely different for UL1054 and UL61058-1, switches presently certified to UL 1054 are required to be completely re-evaluated in order to comply with the requirements of UL 61058-1. Scope: 1 Revised The maximum rated voltage reduced from 600 V in UL1054 Requirement to 480 V in UL61058-1. Action required: A limited number of switches over 480 V shall be reviewed. Subject: 1054 Section Paragraph Clause 5 Page 2 of 9 Summary of requirements General notes on tests: For dc rated switches without a polarity marking, tests shall also be performed at reverse polarity. «ACTIONDATE» Action Revised Requirement For the Endurance test, UL 61058-1 does not have methods for combining different voltage ratings. The potential between live parts and dead metal parts shall be the full test potential. In addition, the test sequence of UL 61058-1 is significantly different from UL 1054. However only 3 specimens of switches are required for endurance instead of 6 specimens in UL 1054. 7 8 8.9 9 Action required: Test required. Classification and Declaration: In UL 61058-1, new classification and declaration form for switches has been created to capture the Pollution Degree, IPXX, Insulation Class, Disconnection, Circuit, Loads etc., which shall be declared by the manufacturer. Action required: Manufacturers are required to provide the declarations for the switches. Marking and documentation: UL 61058-1 has specific requirements for marking/documentation.
