WHY RESPIRATORY CARE AT SU? The mission of the Shenandoah University Respiratory Care program is to prepare and
educate its students to become exemplary health care providers in the field of respiratory care. The curriculum employs the
standards instituted by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and provides students with an
atmosphere that promotes critical thinking and the ability to develop the knowledge and skills essential to become an integral
member of the health care team. This program prepares students with the skills and knowledge needed for entry-level
respiratory care positions in a variety of diverse settings.
The Division of Respiratory Care is currently revising the curriculum and is proposing changes that if approved, will
change the program from 3 semesters to an accelerated 4 semester track, increasing the length of the program from 12
months to 16 months. The changes are necessary to meet upcoming accreditation changes as well as to include the best
learning opportunities for our students.
ADMISSION AND ENROLLMENT: Admission to this program is available for the fall semester only at the Main Campus in
Winchester, VA and at the Northern Virginia Campus in Leesburg, VA. Shenandoah University operates on rolling admissions
