(College logo) Project synopsis on LASER BURGLAR ALARM SYSTEM Under taken by: Name 1 Roll no. 1 Name 2 Roll no. 2 Name 3 Roll no. 3 Name 4 Roll no. 4 ABSTRACT In any highly secured area or even in your own house, the main focus is on the security. As the data of any organization is very important to them, therefore best security measures are used to protect it. This project is designed to stop or trap any burglar entering in the house or any secured area. This project uses laser and photo resistors along with mirrors to protect the house from any intruder entering the premises. Only the authorized personal can enter after entering a secure code which disables the laser trap. All objects with a temperature above absolute zero emit heat energy in the form of radiation. Usually this radiation isn't visible to the human eye because it radiates at infrared wavelengths, but it can be detected by electronic devices designed for such a purpose. ABOUT LASER TECHNOLOGY A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. The term "laser" originated as an acronym for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation". A laser differs from other sources of light in that it emits light coherently. Spatial coherence allows a laser to be focused to a tight spot, enabling applications such as laser cutting and lithography. Spatial coherence also allows a laser beam to stay narrow over great distances (collimation), enabling applications such as laser pointers. Lasers can also have high temporal coherence, which allows them to emit light with a very narrow spectrum, i.e., they can emit a single color of light. Temporal coherence can be used to produce pulses of light as short as a femtosecond. Among their many applications, lasers are used in optical disk drives, laser printers, and barcode scanners; DNA sequencing instruments, fiber-optic and free-space optical communication; laser surgery and skin treatments; cutting and welding materials; military and law enforcement devices for marking targets and measuring range and speed; and laser lighting displays in entertainment. WORKING PRINCIPLE Whenever any person enters the secure zone, he needs to cross the laser trap. The laser diode emits laser light which after reflecting the mirrors falls onto the photo resistors. If anyone tries to cross the laser trap, he first needs to disable it by entering the right security code in the keypad matrix. If any burglar tries to cross the trap, the laser sight will be cut and resistance of photo resistor will become high and the microcontroller detects this change and thus activates the alarm. Arduino IDE APPLICATIONS AND FEATURES This project costs very less as compared to other home security projects The project provide full perimeter fencing security The project does not require any special sensors for its operation The making of the project is much simple that any other project of the home security due to no special sensor used. Apart from the above, there are many applications of laser itself which are as follows: Military: Marking targets, guiding munitions, missile defense, electrooptical countermeasures (EOCM), alternative to radar, blinding troops. Law enforcement: used for latent fingerprint detection in the forensic identification field Research: Spectroscopy, laser ablation, laser annealing, laser scattering, laser interferometry, lidar, laser capture micro dissection, fluorescence microscopy, metrology. Product development/commercial: laser printers, optical discs (e.g. CDs and the like), barcode scanners, thermometers, laser pointers, holograms, bubble grams.
