Job Description:
This position is responsible for providing technical support to the SICK, Inc. Strategic Industry Teams,
distributors, integrators, and customers with regard to SICK, Inc. products.
Job Requirements:
Education:
 Four year degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
 0-3 years of experience in industrial automation or business to business technical customer support
preferred.
Job Specific Abilities:
 Written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively interface with individuals both inside
and outside the organization from a technical perspective regarding SICK products.
 Ability to problem solve with internal and external customers.
 Desire to learn and grow with-in the role.
 Ability to expand technical knowledge.
Computer Skills:
 Computer proficiency with Microsoft and Internet applications
Math Skills:
 Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
Other Requirements:
 Legally permitted to work in the United States
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide escalated technical support to the SICK direct sales teams, distributors and/or customers through
telephone conversations and written communication.
2. Use CRM system for all customer and sales process data to ensure proper documentation and retention.
3. Apply diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate root cause analysis, and recommend
solutions.
4. Provide training, as appropriate, through telephone conversations, email, in-person conversations and
other forms of communication.
5. Perform analysis of applications samples and provide reports to make product recommendations.
6. Handle difficult customer situations upholding and/or improving customer perception of SICK, Inc.
7. Review and submit technical support documents, application solution write-ups, FAQ’s and other
supporting material.
8. Create and review training and sales support materials.
9. Understand customer needs and contribute to product development programs.
10. Assist in the design, development, and construction of demonstration equipment to maximize the
quality and quantity of product exposure.
11. Travel to customer sites to evaluate customer applications, recommend SICK, Inc. solution and solve
technical problems.
12. Present information on projects to division manager, proactively request input on important decisions.
13. Engage support resources in SICK AG to collaborate on important topics.
14. Regular attendance and timeliness.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide trade show support as necessary.
2. Carry out other duties as may be assigned or required.
