Sports Premium at Gibside School The Government has committed to spend over £450 million on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools over the next 3 academic years 2013 to 2014, 2014 to 2015 and 2015 to 2016. This money has been allocated to support schools in improving their PE and sport provision only. How will we be using the funding at Gibside? Invest in the School Sports Partnership by upgrading to ‘Platinum’ cover, which means we can access more resources, sports and competitions than ever before. Continue extending provision of external coaches to lead lunchtime clubs and lead expert tuition for our children. Purchase new and inclusive equipment and resources to support the teaching of PE. Continue staff professional development through training courses to lead sessions of rebound therapy and using the hydrotherapy pool. Future investment in improving the school play yard and outdoor physical learning. What do we aim to achieve? Ensure our children have opportunities to partake in events with their peers. Opportunities to compete with peers on intra and inter school basis. Give children opportunities to try to sport activities such as fencing, hockey, rugby as well as para-sports in KS2. Improve the PE curriculum. Ensure staff have are well qualified to lead different sport activities including rebound therapy. Increase activity during playtime and lunchtimes.
