Mission and objectives
• Mission: To contribute to knowledge based value creation and business
development.
• Objective: The realisation of an Innovation Park on Campus, consisting of:
– Innovation activity, carried out by a company dedicated to create clusters –
both within and around the Innovation park, carry out innovation and
commercialization activities, project initiation, -development and
administration within the affiliated area of the university.
– Building/premises on campus that enables collocation of research/outreach
activities at the university, with business and public players that benefit from
working close with research and education.
– The premises itself will be used to create clusters of related activity, as well as
hosting new enterprises (both spin-offs/-outs and existing business from other
regions).
Expectations and potential
• Increased expectations to (and measuring of) universities’ contribution to
regional (and overall) innovation and business development
• Need for more “cross boarder” activity between education, research and
business:
– Acceptance => encouragement => expectation/requirement
– Educating a new generation of researchers who understand both business and
research challenges
• Joint projects and consortiums between research and business
• Joint projects are often based on running clusters/relations, which are also
a source for new ideas, experience, market channels and financing.
• Both linear and systemic innovations
• Former spin-offs/spin-outs become new partners
• Both development and attraction of new business
Support in overall strategies
