2016 Recipient Application
In collaboration, Rockin’ Ribfest and United Way & Volunteer Services of Greater Yankton are pleased to announce
Ribfest Cares, a unique fundraising opportunity for local nonprofits.
If chosen as the 2016 Ribfest Cares recipient, you will be given an opportunity to promote your organization and
fundraise during the Rockin’ Ribfest event, June 3rd & 4th, 2016.
Ribfest Cares Recipient Duties & Opportunities:
 Vendor booth (free of charge) to promote your organization & Ribfest Cares. You will also be able to accept
cash/check donations.
 Text 2 Give fundraising promotion both Friday & Saturday – participants will be able to donate to your cause by
texting RIBFESTCARES to the shortcode 41444
 Your organization will be highlighted on stage multiple times during the Rockin’ Ribfest entertainment, both Friday
and Saturday. Ribfest Cares recipients will be prepared to speak briefly about their organization and the technology
to fundraise (Text 2 Give). We ask that you also promote the collaboration between Rockin’ Ribfest and United
Way. An on stage schedule will be prepared and shared with your organization prior to the event.
 Ribfest Cares recipients will provide at least 4 additional volunteers to help support Rockin’ Ribfest vendor &
information booths throughout the festivities on both Friday & Saturday. A volunteer schedule will also be prepared
and shared closer to the event for scheduling purposes.
Text 2 Give funds are based on total monies raised during Rockin’ Ribfest event minus a 2.5% transaction fee
(charged by Text 2 Give provider). United Way will provide the Text 2 Give technology, a real time visual
thermometer to display during event, as well as a detailed donor report. Funds will be distributed to recipient once
received from technology source. Please allow 4-6 weeks for Text 2 Give fund distribution.
You may begin your marketing/fundraising campaign one week prior to the event. Your campaign must end the
Sunday after Rockin Ribfest. A press kit, including Ribfest Cares logos and press releases templates will be provided.
We encourage your organization to apply if you meet the following requirements:
 Operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
 Organizations must be located in Yankton County, primarily serving Yankton County residents.
 Applicants shall be willing to make a brief presentation to the Ribfest Cares Committee (time to be determined
and notification sent via email).
 Applicants shall be willing to participate in Ribfest Cares media promotions including social media, radio and
newspaper ads.
Recipients are chosen by the Rockin’ Ribfest Committee and United Way Board of Directors.

activity/project for which funds were used within two (2) months of receiving the award. I understand that in being chosen as the Ribfest Cares
Recipient, this does not guarantee my organization/agency a certain amount of funds (if any). I understand that funds received are based on my
organizations fundraising efforts during the event, minus a 2.5% transaction fee (for funds received via Text 2 Give technology), which will be
provided via United Way & Volunteer Services of Greater Yankton once payment has been received by technology source.
