Mellor primary School Sport Premium
The Government now provides funding of £150 million per annum for primary school
sport funding.
This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and
Culture, Media and Sport and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend
on improving the quality of sport and PE.
Funding for schools is calculated by the number of primary-aged pupils (between the
ages of 5 and 11) as of the annual schools census in January. In each year all schools
with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of
£5 per pupil. This means Mellor received £8830 for the year 2015-2016.
All schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and
sport and they have the freedom to choose how they do this.
We have developing our facilities to enable higher quality provision.
The school hall has been expanded by 55sq metres. The increase will enable classes to
work in a safer environment as well as use a range of equipment effectively.
The total funding of £8830 will contribute to the capital development.
