Lifestyles Aspiring Athletes Information General Information about the Scheme This prestigious scheme allows the successful athletes accepted onto the scheme to gain the best possible chance of achieving their potential within their chosen sport. Strength and Conditioning has become such an important element of world class sport. With specific input the successful athletes can set themselves apart from national and international competition. They will be working with Olympian Lisa Letchford and Advanced Personal Trainer Mark Thouless who will provide them with personalised and sports specific programs every 12 weeks throughout the year. They will make sure their program is manageable alongside school work and their sporting commitments. They will provide them with inspiration and motivation throughout their time on the scheme and they will mentor them to help them achieve their dreams. We will be providing them with approximately £1600 of support for free over the course of a year. Each year the athletes will either be re-invited back onto the scheme or they will have to re-apply. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must be aged between 13 and 18 years old at the time of application. The athlete must live, go to school or access their sports club within the South Oxfordshire District. Applicants must send a letter of support from their coach to verify the standard that they have already achieved in their sport. Athletes must have their parents consent to apply for this scheme. Closing date for applications is the 31st March 2013. Process of application 1. Ask your governing body, sports club or school teacher to fill in the relevant section. 2. Ask your coach or school teacher to write a letter of support detailing why they believe you should join the scheme. 3. The applicants that are successfully shortlisted will then be required to attend a short informal interview. 4. Those that are successfully accepted onto the scheme will then be contacted to book in for their first assessment and meeting with Mark Thouless and with Lisa Letchford. 5. Terms & Conditions of the Aspiring Athletes Scheme: Acknowledgement of Risks, Injuries & Obligation The athlete must read the HCS form prior to commencing the scheme. If the athlete has any doubts about their health/fitness they should consult either Mark Thouless or Lisa Letchford before continuing their program. They must notify Lifestyles of any changes in their medical condition or health, which might affect their exercise program. They must notify Lifestyles of any change of address, telephone number or name. Training while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden and will result in the termination of their scheme membership. Personal property must not be left unattended in the changing rooms. Any property is locked away the athletes own discretion and is their responsibility. Only drinks in plastic bottles or plastic cups provided may be used in the gym. Strictly no glass allowed. Administration Appropriate clothing and supportive, clean footwear must be worn and towels must be used at all times whilst in the gym. The place on the scheme is non-transferrable. Equipment and facilities must be used in the correct manner and tidied away after use in consideration of others for health and safety reasons. The athlete must respect other gym users and behave in a appropriate manner at all times. Lifestyles Gym, Rehab & Performance Centre reserves the right to rescind the membership to the scheme if athletes do not comply with the terms and conditions. Successful athletes or their parents will have to set up a standing order to Lifestyles for £15/month for the duration of the scheme. Scheme specific. Successful athletes will give us a short biography and photo that we can put up on our Aspiring Athletes Gallery in the gym. Successful athletes will attend all of the sessions outlined in their program and if unable to make a session will notify Mark Thouless or Lisa Letchford by either telephone 01491 822633 or by email [email protected]. Parents consent will allow the athletes or Lifestyles to use media such as facebook and twitter to keep our followers up to date with their progress in the gym and on the sports field.
