Hello Parents!
We are happy you would consider Andrada Polytechnic as your choice for freshmen
enrollment in the 2014/2015 school year. We wish we could accommodate all students,
but we can only accept 150 freshmen next year. Below are the enrollment procedures.
Any 8th grade families interested in having their students attend Andrada will need to
submit an interest form to our registrar, Debbie Peck. Forms will be accepted January 6,
2014 through February 13, 2014. Forms can be faxed to 879-3301, emailed to
[email protected], or dropped off between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily. Any forms
received after 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2014 will not be included in the lottery. Forms
will be available on our website, www.aphs.vail.k12.az.us, and in our office beginning on
January 6, 2014.
If more than 150 interest forms are received, a lottery will be held on February 19, 2014
at 4:00 p.m. at Andrada High School. Students of APHS employees, Vail School District
employees, and siblings of currently enrolled 9th, 10th, or 11th grade students will be
enrolled and are not included in the lottery should one be needed; however, a completed
interest form must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2014 for these students
to secure a spot.
Lottery Procedures
The first name drawn out of the lottery will be the first student on the accepted student
list after any Vail School District staff children or siblings. This process will continue
until we have reached 150 students. The remaining names will be drawn and placed on
the waiting list in the order in which they are drawn until no names remain.
Open enrollment 8th grade students currently enrolled in a Vail school must turn in an
open enrollment form with their interest form. These students will NOT be included in
the initial lottery.
All open enrollment students, not currently attending a Vail school (which includes
students from Elgin and Sonoita), may turn in an interest form and open enrollment form.
If enrollment numbers decrease and there are no Vail residents on that grade’s waiting
list, we will consider enrollment for these students if the School Board determines APHS
an open enrollment school.
Students who have an IEP or 504 are not exempt from the lottery.
Upon determination of the 150 accepted students, ALL families will need to complete
and turn in an enrollment packet to the Registrar at Andrada High School by 4:00 p.m. on
March 5, 2014. By submitting an enrollment packet to Andrada, you are selecting
Andrada as the school for your student(s). Families may not change their selected high
school after this deadline. If any of the 150 accepted students do not submit a completed
enrollment packet, they will lose their spot. These slots will then be filled with students
from the waiting list. This process will continue until 150 completed enrollment packets
are received.
Enrollment packet requirements
ALL students must have the following information in order to complete a
registration packet.
1. Immunization Records
2. A copy of the student’s original Certified Birth Certificate.
3. Two Proofs of Residency - One form MUST be one of the following: Driver’s
license, motor vehicle registration, W2 form, paystub, or passport. The second
form MUST be one of the following: utility bill, lease or mortgage statement.
Proof of residency must show current address along with parent or legal
guardian’s name.
4. Proof of Legal Guardianship/Custody – Parent Driver’s License or Legal Guardian
paperwork with ID.
5. If a student is residing with someone who lives in the district, a notarized shared
residence affidavit form must be completed and turned in upon enrollment.
*In order to ensure proper academic placement and to expedite the enrollment
process, all registration packets must be hand carried to Andrada High School to be
reviewed by the registrar. Only registration packets that are complete with all
required documents will be accepted.
