VMBA Executive Director Job Description
The VMBA Executive Director (“ED”) will be responsible for daily operations of the Association and
reports directly to the Board of Directors. The ED will work closely with the Board of Directors to
provide educational opportunities for the membership, inform and counsel the Board and inform the
membership on legislative issues, build and maintain membership & the membership data base, and
maintain the VMBA website. The ED will also oversee budgets, invoice members and sponsors, plan,
schedule and run events, including but not limited to the VT Mortgage Bankers Conference, the annual
Golf Tournament and continuing education courses. In addition the ED will work with and maintain a
relationship with other State and National MBA Executive Directors, State Finance Regulators, State and
National Lobbyists, etc.
The Executive Director position is a part time position. The average work week will be approximately 20
hours, though there will be times during the year that will require more time (centered around events
and conferences) and other times which may require fewer hours. There is some travel required
including the attending the annual New England Mortgage Bankers Conference (NEMBC) as well as the
Mortgage Bankers Association (“MBA”) State & Local Workshop and MBA Advocacy Conference.
The ED should be organized, self-motivated and well versed in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and have a good
understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. This person should be willing to learn
new systems to support the VMBA such as Quicken / Quick Books, Constant Contact, Yahoo's
Aabaca Small Business webhosting, and PayPal for credit card payment system. A working knowledge of
the mortgage banking industry is a bonus, however, not required.
