The manuscript is an original research article. The manuscript has not been previously published in any language anywhere and it is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Industrial relevance: Coating process is often applied to a dosage form that is functionally complete and includes application of a protective layer on particles, tablets, capsules. Coating serves multiple functions. An overview of pharmaceutical coating (materials, formulations, and processes) revealed that there has been a steady transition in the pharmaceutical industry, beginning with sugar coating, moving to film coating, and finally arriving at aqueous film coating. The reasons, for shift from organic solvent-based to water-based film coating, are high costs of organic solvents, possibility of residual solvents in the finished product, adverse effects of residual solvents on consumer health and government regulations. In case of aqueous film coating, there is a need to identify critical process parameters and control a range of key processing factors. Natural polymers have many advantages over the synthetic polymers. Herbal gums, containing polysaccharides, are widely used in the process of development of new pharmaceutical formulations. The development of new coating materials and impact of applied coatings should be evaluated in terms of subsequent release of the drug from the dosage form. The paper attempts to describe the application of a novel natural polymer, neem gum, as an aqueous coating material. It also studies the coating process parameters and the in vitro release of the drug from the neem gum coated tablets. You are requested to publish the article in your esteemed journal. Thanking you.
