Standard Operating Procedure for animal health practices
(Question 12)
Disbud with caustic paste
1. Dehorning calves from ____ days to ____ days of age.

4. Wait for medication to take effect.

8. Reposition the hair over the paste and horn bud, cover the horn bud.
9. Keep calves in individual pens to avoid accidental caustic burns to other animals.
10. Check if the wound heals well (infection, swelling) and call the veterinary if necessary.

Supernumerary teat removal
1. Identify and remove supernumerary teats on heifers as early in life as possible
