Collection and Use of Personal Information
The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) collects and uses
personal information about employees in accordance with the Korea Advanced
Institute of Science and Technology Act, Higher Education Act, Labor Standards Act,
Income Tax Act and National Health Insurance Act.
Personal information collected will be used for the conclusion and implementation
of an employment contract and accomplishment of own goals of KAIST. Collected
information may be also provided or its processing may be outsourced to other
government institutions, international organizations, foreign government
institutions, or other advisory organizations only for the purpose of complying with
legal requirements or offering advisory services to improve business efficiency. If we
use obtained personal information for purposes other than those listed above, we
will notify affected individuals in advance and take reasonable steps to ensure that
corresponding information is provided for processing within the agreed-upon scope
and period, and be destroyed immediately after achieving the purpose.
We take reasonable safeguard to ensure that collected information is protected
against loss, against unauthorized access, use, disclosure or modification, and is
destructed without delay upon the expiry of the prescribed retention period.
Furthermore, we will strictly supervise employees who handle personal information
we have collected, and carefully select and supervise third party service providers
that handle the personal information.
Pledge to Protect Personal Information
I hereby certify that I have read and understood KAIST’s policy described above and
I solemnly swear that I will manage and handle personal information obtained in the
course of legitimate business operations in a fair and proper manner that complies
with the Personal Information Protection Act and other relevant acts.
