The MPH degree is for people who want to impact
the future of public health in their communities and
beyond. If you’re currently working in health care or a
community organization, you’ll find value in this degree.
If you are already a manager in health care, the MPH
degree can help you broaden your professional horizons
while focusing on leadership in your community.
The MPH program at WMU is delivered in a hybrid
format, with primarily online courses. In addition, each
semester you’ll have the opportunity to meet face-to-face
with your classmates and instructors. Classes meet two
weekends each semester and one week each summer at
our downtown Grand Rapids location.

The MPH at WMU focuses on five core areas of public
health: environmental health sciences, biostatistics,
health services administration, epidemiology and social
and behavioral sciences. This generalist degree offers
a broad understanding of complex issues related to
public health, with a clear focus on leadership.
This program is designed to prepare you for a variety
of public health careers. It helps meet the demand for
public health leaders who are ready to develop and
improve health care systems on a local, national
and global basis.
