European Mathematical Genetics Meeting
2012
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS OPEN
The next European Mathematical Genetics Meeting is to take place at the
Georg-August-University Göttingen on 12 and 13 April, 2012.
EMGM 2012 will be hosted by the DFG research training group (GRK 1644) “Scaling
Problems in Statistics”, in particular by Heike Bickeböller, Henner Simianer, Anja Sturm, and
Thomas Kneib. This annual meeting provides an informal and inviting atmosphere to
exchange ideas on the use of mathematical techniques in the field of genetics. A research
symposium on the genetics of psychosis will be held on 11 April 2012, the day prior to the
meeting.
The meeting will be in Göttingen, a beautiful small city at the geographic heart of Germany,
in which the view of the city has been moulded by its many students. For statisticians, one of
the most famous citizens of this city is Carl Friedrich Gauss.
The call for posters and talks is now open with abstract deadline February 17. Confirmed
speakers will be announced soon after. Past topics have included genetic epidemiology,
linkage and association studies, pathway analysis, population genetics, complex diseases, rare
variants, copy number variation, and the analysis of sequence data. Some meetings had the
focus on human genetics; for earlier meetings the focus lay on animal breeding. This year, we
hope that interest will come from both areas.

regularly.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to Göttingen.
With best wishes,
Heike Bickeböller
