Hemophilia
• The body loses one or more of it’s clotting
factors.
• The body is not able to stop bleeding as
well as it should.
• There are several different hereditary
deficiencies

Anemia- a condition in which the
oxygen carrying capacity of the
blood is reduced
Iron deficiency
Pernicious
Hemolytic
Aplastic
Sickle cell
Infectious mononucleosis
• Caused by the Epstein-Barr virus
• Elevated white blood cell count
• As with most viruses it must play its
course, for a few weeks.
Leukemia
• Cancer of the blood
• Overproduction of non functioning white
blood cells
Septicemia
• Toxins or disease causing bacteria
growing in the blood.
• Also known as “blood poisoning”
Pericarditis
• Inflammation of the pericardium
• Causes a painful rubbing between heart
and pericardium
Myocardial infarction
• Infarction refers to death of an area due to
interrupted blood supply
Heart Murmur
• A disorder of a heart valve(s)
• Stenosis- narrowing of a valve
Atherosclerosis
Coronary artery bypass
Coronary angioplasty
Aneursym
Thrombosis- a blood clot
• Embolism- when a clot lodges in a blood
vessel.
• Pulmonary embolism- lodges and
obstructs blood flow between heart and
lungs
