PROBATIONARY PERIOD: SIXTY (60) CALENDAR DAYS FROM INITIAL
APPOINTMENT
MAJOR DUTIES:






Maintains pharmacy storeroom inventory by shelving items alphabetically by generic
name; properly stores drugs that have special storage requirements (e.g., refrigeration).
Assists with filling pharmacy supply orders for items stocked, tours areas serviced by
pharmacy to ascertain replenishment needs and reports to supervisor.
Assists with receiving drug shipments; notifies the pharmacists of delayed shipments,
partial receipts, or similar events affecting drug stocks; assists pharmacy staff in
maintaining cleanliness of the pharmacy, pharmacy storage and waiting area.
Is responsible for storage of drugs in specifically assigned. Pyxis restocking, prime
vendor orders. Monitors expiration dates, rotation of drug stock, etc.
Assists Pharmacist by repackage drugs into usable size (all end products are reviewed by
registered pharmacist and this is on a task-by-task basis) and prepackages drugs from
bulk stores into prescription size, maintains control of logs as required for quality control
and statistical purposes. Generates required labels with attachment or correct auxiliary
labels.
Inspects all storage places for drugs to ensure proper storage conditions; checks age and
condition for all medications.
May assist pharmacists in their patient care activities by typing, filling prescriptions in
written and oral forms, etc. (under a pharmacists supervision; and may prepackage
necessary drugs and medical supplies dispensed from the pharmacy (under a pharmacists
close supervision).


Maintains stock of drugs in clinic on a routine basis.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 High School Diploma or GED
 Valid MT driver’s license required
 6 months of general experience or 1 year of study that included a course in biology,
chemistry, or physics
 Limited knowledge of technical pharmaceutical work and the routines and procedures of
a pharmacy operation.
 Requires the skill of a qualified typist and knowledge of personal computer systems.
 Requires skill in operation and care of various types of pharmacy equipment, such as
counting and labeling machines, typewriters, computers, pharmacy balances, laminar air
flow hood and other pharmacy equipment.
 Ability to read physician’s handwritten notes, drug labels, medical chart entries, order
cards, and written instructions from pharmacists.
 Skills in math computation to determine proper amounts of drugs and supplies to the
amounts obtainable in the pharmacy and for accurate and weighting of pharmaceuticals.
 Knowledge of appropriate resource and reference material and their use.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 Acquires continuing education credit greater than that required for licensure, reads
available professional literature, attends continuing education seminars as available per
Health Center.
Other Selection Criteria:
 Qualified Chippewa Cree members who are honorably discharged veterans will be given
preference. DD214 required.
 Chippewa Cree Tribal Preference.
 Will be subject to random drug testing.
 Anyone who has violated the Chippewa Cree Tribal Ordinance must comply with the
requirements. (show evidence)

determine the extent to which their education, work related experience, training awards,
professional recognition and supervisory appraisals indicate they possess or have the
potential to acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) required to perform the duties
and responsibilities described above. On a separate sheet of paper discuss how you performed
or have potential to develop the particular knowledge, skill or ability listed below. Failure to
submit written responses as part of your application may result in an ineligible rating
or substantially lower score.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):
1. Responsible for proper storage of drugs including expiration dates, rotation of drug stocks as
evidenced by log records. [Please provide examples on how you will accomplish this]
2. Maintains necessary records as required by Federal Laws, JCAHO/AAAHC (Accreditation).
[Cite examples on the process of maintaining records for review]
3. Complies with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and JCAHO/AAAHC regulations
regarding the maintenance of records and accountability of controlled substances. [Show
evidence of knowledge of DEA/JCAHO/AAAHC regulations]
4. Adheres to clinic policies on the correct steps to follow in filling and dispensing
prescriptions. [Show examples on the procedure of this process]
5. Responsible for typing and correcting any necessary errors for the Pharmacy Policy and
Procedural Manual which meets the accreditation standards and the Rocky Boy Health Center
standards and is updated on an ongoing basis and maintains required records. Also ensures
all other department heads are notified of the pertinent update.
6. Takes minutes of pharmacy meetings and assures the minutes are typed and filed.
7. Provides verbal response to requests promptly with written documentation or requests.
8. Periodic voluntary drug information, newsletter or programs are prepared and presented.
9. Assists supply services in the procurement of all pharmaceuticals (determine source of supply
and quantities to be ordered).
