For Immediate Release
The American Dental Association (ADEA) has honored William O. Butler, M.S.,
Director of Continuing Dental Education and Alumni Affairs, for his contributions to
dental education and the Association. He was one of 13 leaders to receive a Presidential
Citation from ADEA President Gerald N. Glickman during the ADEA Opening
Ceremony with Awards and Plenary Session.
“Each of the 2013 ADEA Presidential Citation recipients has shown extraordinary
dedication to dental education,” says Dr. Glickman. “I am proud to honor them and to
recognize the major contributions they have made to ADEA and to dental education.”
Glickman said “Bill”, “strongly believes that continuing professional education is
essential to successful dental practice and that the provision of continuing dental
education is an essential part of dental schools’ missions. He has been an innovative
leader in continuing dental education and a source of encouragement to the dental
education community.”
“I was extremely honored to receive the Presidential Citation and the many opportunities
I have had to serve ADEA and our dental school in various roles throughout the years.
This award is really a reflection on our incredible staff that chose continuing education
and alumni affairs as their carrier path and they each represent our institution as respected
professionals to the dental community. The continued support of our Dean was essential
in allowing us to push outside the block on creative new types of programs,” Butler said.
