Remarkable Opportunities in General Surgery The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a general surgeon to lead its regional surgery services program. The selected candidate will serve as the primary provider of general surgery services at various locations throughout the region and be responsible for collaborating with department leadership, faculty and administration to identify, develop and implement a comprehensive geographic strategy for the Department of Surgery. In addition, the director will serve as a primary point of contact to regional providers for inquiries regarding department clinical services, identify new opportunities for regional clinical services and serve as the primary physician representative in initial meetings and throughout the negotiation process. This is an ideal opportunity for a general surgeon interested in practicing the full spectrum of community and rural general surgery with a formal academic and clinical connection to Wisconsin’s premier academic health system. A minimum of 8–10 hours per week dedicated to leadership responsibilities will be expected in order to successfully achieve the objectives of the position, including regular travel throughout the region. In addition, the selected candidate will provide 10–15 days per month of onsite clinical services at various locations in the region, including general surgery call, elective general surgery services, and inpatient and outpatient consultations. The director will work closely with an administrative partner to develop and achieve strategic goals under the general direction of department leadership.
