Projeto Para O Instituto De Linguagem E Transculturalidade A área de inglês, devido a sua prioridade, contará com três coordenações: uma coordenação dos cursos gerais com foco nas quatro habilidades (ler, escrever, ouvir e falar), uma coordenação dos cursos de letramento acadêmico para capacitação dos alunos e docentes para a escrita acadêmica em inglês com objetivos para a publicação ou não, uma coordenação de todos os cursos de inglês ofertados pelo Instituto na modalidade a distância. Transcultural Engagements This document outlines a course structure for the General English course to be offered in part through distance learning, via the moodle virtual learning environment. The course Transcultural Engagements is designed on the following basis: It is an intermediate-level course in English It focuses on the four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The skills will be taught through a series of language tasks that are relevant to developing generic graduate attributes, e.g. problem-based learning, presentation and discussion skills, decision-making activities, data gathering and critical analysis. There will be additional language practice activities available, with a focus on intermediate-level grammar instruction, and lexis that corpus-based studies have shown to be widely used across academic disciplines. The topics are designed to address issues generally relevant to graduates at a Brazilian University of high international standing. The topics have been chosen to stimulate creative and ethical reasoning, in alignment with international research on graduate attributes. Topics Each topic forms the basis of a unit of study, including: Reading and listening passages Focus on intermediate grammar and general academic vocabulary Discussion and presentation activities Generic writing skills: eg reports, summaries, reviews, brief essays Extension activities: project work, practical ethnographies Online exchanges Two sample units are shown on Moodle.
