Local Government Finance Act 1992 Council Tax Discount – Child Benefit Payable For the purpose of council tax, a discount may apply if one of the residents in a dwelling is aged 18 or over and still in receipt of child benefit. However, no discount will apply where there is more than one resident in the house who is not disregarded for council tax purposes. If you think a discount may apply please complete the sections below and return the form to the address above: 1. Name of person for whom child benefit is payable 2. Date of birth for whom child benefit is payable 3. Child benefit allowance number 4. Date child benefit ceases Please note that you must notify the council immediately once you believe that you are no longer eligible for the council tax discount granted as a result of this application. Failure to notify the council of a change in circumstances affecting your entitlement to discount may result in a penalty being imposed.
