Pain Management
Is pain affecting your
everyday life?
Ultrasound
Screening Tests
Ultrasound screenning tests
may be especially helpful for
people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or are
over age 35.
Exams take only 10-15 minutes
and cost just $35 per test
The tests help to:
• Determine if you’re at risk for coronary
artery disease.
• Evaluate current plaque build-up in
your arteries.
• Check for presence of an abdominal
aneurysm.
Please call Central Scheduling,
320-631-5000, for more information or to
set up an appointment. Please check with
your health care provider to see if you
should schedule one of these tests.
Pain management options are
available. Ask your health care
provider about one of the following
treatments:
• Epidural steroid injections (Caudal and
Intralaminar)
• Facet injections
• Foraminal injections
• Joint injections
• Sacroiliac injections
• Vertebroplasty
Picture Archive
Communications
System (PACS)
St. Gabriel’s Hospital uses a Picture
Archive Communications System (PACS)
which stores images digitally onsite. The images can be then transmitted
electronically offsite to referral sources or
other providers. In addition, the images
can also be put on a CD for patients or
their providers.

Ultrasound
Digital Mammography
Ultrasound utilizes high frequency
sound waves to create images of body
tissues. Registered Diagnostic Medical
Sonographers (RDMS) can image the
breast, thyroid, abdomen and other
body tissues. An ultrasound involves no
radiation exposure and can be used to
guide radiologists during biopsies and
drainage procedures.
Computed
Tomography (CT)
Computed Tomography (CT) uses x-rays
to visualize the body
in detailed slices. CT
can be performed on
organs, bones, soft
tissues and blood
vessels. CT aids
doctors in diagnosing
abnormalities
such as fractures,
tumors, embolisms,
aneurysms and much
more.
General Radiography
General radiology utilizes x-rays to create
digital images of bone and soft tissue. This
is a quick and painless procedure widely
used to detect problems in the head, spine,
chest, bones and abdomen.
Magnetic Resonance
Imaging (MRI)
MRI is a sophisticated imaging technique
used to see inside the body. It uses
powerful magnet and radiowaves to
construct detailed images which can be
used to diagnose a wide range of medical
conditions.
Because digital mammography allows a
radiologist to electronically adjust, store,
and retrieve digital images, it offers the
following advantages over conventional
mammography, which stores the images
directly on film:
• Health care providers can share files
electronically, making it easier for
specialists to consult with each other.
• Subtle differences between normal and
abnormal tissues may be more easily noted.
• Image quality is greatly improved,
especially true for women with dense
tissue or implants.
• According to a study published in the
February issue of The American Journal
of Roentgenology, the radiation dose
from digital mammography is an average
of 22% lower than that of conventional
mammography.
MRIs can detect:
• Spinal and joint problems
• Chest and abdominal abnormalities
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine refers to the use of a
small amount
of a low-dose
radioactive
medication,
either
injected or
ingested, to
image certain
parts of the
body. St. Gabriel’s
Hospital
offers many
nuclear
medicine exams, ranging from bone and
gallbladder scans to heart scans with stress
testing.
