Treehouse Children's Services Cancer Family Care Many children and adolescents feel alone, confused, angry, sad, or frightened when cancer strikes the family. Whether it is their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one, cancer impacts their lives in a significant way. The stress of a cancer diagnosis or the death of a loved one from cancer touches not only a child's emotions, but can also affect school performance and relationships. The children's services of Cancer Family Care offer support and guidance to families coping with these challenging and difficult times. Services are available to children between the ages of 4 to 18 years who are coping with either their own cancer, the diagnosis of a loved one, or the death of a loved one from cancer. All services are provided by master's-level counselors or social workers. Our Services Individual Counseling: One-on-one therapeutic counseling offered in one of our five offices, the child's school, or in your home. Group Counseling: Therapeutic counseling for students in any local school coping with a current loved one's cancer-related illness or death. Family Counseling: Private meetings for your family with a social worker at school, home, or our offices. Asking for help can be a difficult thing to do. But whether you are overwhelmed with emotion or merely seeking answers, we have a trained, experienced staff of experts who can help you. And our services are billed on a sliding scale, so they are available to everyone who needs them, regardless of ability to pay.
