UAB Weight Loss Medicine UAB Weight Loss Medicine is a comprehensive resource for patients who want to lose weight, maintain weight loss, or prevent excessive weight gain during high-risk medical conditions such as post-injury rehabilitation and breast cancer treatment. As the Southeast’s first multidisciplinary weight loss medicine program, our UAB weight loss specialists seek to address the consistent rise in the regional rates of obesity, diabetes, and hypertension and provide patients with a personalized weight loss plan tailored to fit their individual needs and circumstances. The UAB Weight Loss Medicine program provides patients access to top experts and the newest advances in medical management of obesity with faculty physicians from the UAB Departments of Medicine and Nutrition Sciences. Our Weight Loss Medicine Co-Directors Our Approach Our team approach to weight management benefits patients by providing them with a collaborative effort between their physician, dietitian, behaviorist, and exercise trainer to achieve their goal weight. If it is determined that a patient may benefit from surgical weight loss they will be scheduled to consult with our UAB bariatric surgeons in conjunction with the program.
