John 1:14 (AMP) 14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled
(fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His
majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, lovingkindness) and truth.
3. Are thoughts words? Explain. ___________________________________________________
4. How do thoughts become action, “I will do…”? _____________________________________
5. What do you think is the significance of 2 Corinthians 10:5? ___________________________
2 Corinthians 10:5 (AMP) [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasoning and
every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead
every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the
Anointed One),
6. Is it possible? Why or Why not? _________________________________________________
1
7. A. Comment on the statement: Wise men’s words = positive creation (leaves behind
blessing). Foolish men’s words = negative creation (destructions, tears, sorrow…) ___________

Proverbs 13:3 (AMP) 3 He who guards his mouth keeps his life, but he who opens wide his lips
come to ruin.
8. See Isaiah 55:11 and Proverbs 18:20-21. What do we learn about words? _______________
Isaiah 55:11 (AMP) 11 So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return
to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please
and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
9. What do the following verses say about the fool?
Proverbs 15:1-2 __________________________________________________________
Proverbs 15:1-2 (AMP) A SOFT answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. 2
The tongue of the wise utters knowledge rightly, but the mouth of the [self-confident] fool
pours out folly.
Proverbs 18:13 ___________________________________________________________
Proverbs 18:13 (AMP) 13 He who answers a matter before he hears the facts—it is folly and
shame to him.
Proverbs 10:19 ___________________________________________________________
2
Proverbs 10:19 (AMP) 19 in a multitude of words transgression is not lacking, but he who
restrains his lips is prudent.
Proverbs 11:9 ____________________________________________________________
Proverbs 11:9 (AMP) 9 with his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but through
knowledge and superior discernment shall the righteous be delivered.
Proverbs 11:11 ___________________________________________________________
Proverbs 11:11 (AMP) 11 by the blessing of the influence of the upright and God's favor
[because of them] the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
Proverbs 12:18 ___________________________________________________________
Proverbs 12:18 (AMP) 18 There are those who speak rashly, like the piercing of a sword, but the
tongue of the wise brings healing.
Proverbs 15:4 ____________________________________________________________
Proverbs 15:4 (AMP) 4 A gentle tongue [with its healing power] is a tree of life, but willful
contrariness in it breaks down the spirit.
Proverbs 18:6-7 __________________________________________________________
Proverbs 18:6-7 (AMP) 6 a [self-confident] fool's lips bring contention, and his mouth invites a
beating. 7 A [self-confident] fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to himself.
Proverbs 10:18 _______________________________________________________________
3
Proverbs 10:18 (AMP) 18 He who hides hatred is of lying lips, and he who utters slander is a
[self-confident] fool.
Proverbs 16:27-28 ____________________________________________________________
Proverbs 16:27-28 (AMP) 27 A worthless man devises and digs up mischief, and in his lips, there
is as a scorching fire. 28 A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.

and stills it.
B) Summarize what you learned about the fool. ___________________________________
13. Read James 3:1-18. How does it address today’s lesson? ____________________________
James 3:1-18 (AMP) 1 NOT MANY [of you] should become teachers (self-constituted censors
and reprovers of others), my brethren, for you know that we [teachers] will be judged by a
5
higher standard and with greater severity [than other people; thus, we assume the greater
accountability and the more condemnation]. 2 For we all often stumble and fall and offend in
many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a
fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his
entire nature. 3 If we set bits in the horses' mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their
whole bodies about.
4 Likewise,
look at the ships: though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are
steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. 5 Even so
the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how
great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze! 6 And the tongue is a fire. [The tongue is a] world of
wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting
on fire the wheel of birth (the cycle of man's nature), being itself ignited by hell (Gehenna). 7 For
every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea animal, can be tamed and has been tamed by
human genius (nature). 8 But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless
(undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless the Lord and Father,
and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness! 10 Out of the same mouth come
forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so. 11 Does a fountain
send forth [simultaneously] from the same opening fresh water and bitter? 12 Can a fig tree, my
brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine figs? Neither can a salt spring furnish fresh water. 13 Who is
there among you who is wise and intelligent? Then let him by his noble living show forth his
[good] works with the [unobtrusive] humility [which is the proper attribute] of true wisdom. 14
But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts,
do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth. 15 This
[superficial] wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal),
even devilish (demoniacal). 16 For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and
selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of
evil and vile practices. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is
peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion
and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from
6
doubts, wavering, and insincerity). 18 And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God's
will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and
make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement, and
harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and
agitating passions and moral conflicts].
