Una O'Brien is no ordinary midwife! In fact, she's Ireland's first Clinical Midwife Specialist in teen
pregnancy and works in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda. Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is a
major clinical partner in the DkIT Midwifery Programme.
Over the last few years Una has worked to develop an innovative midwifery education programme
involving and appealing to teenage girls and their birth partners. A two-part documentary follows
Una as she goes about her work, and reaches out to teenage mothers through Twitter and
Facebook. The first part is on RTE1: 10.15pm on Thursday 21st March. Hear more about Una and the
