HEADQUARTERS GREEN FLAG GROUP CIVIL AIR PATROL UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AUXILIARY 4511 W. Cheyenne Ave. Suite 500 North Las Vegas, NV 89032 702-636-1196 Green Flag Aircrews, Feb 25, 2016 The last Green Flag West 16-04 rotation was a successful and challenging mission for SP Green Flag participants. GFW SP pilots had to make numerous difficult decisions based on aircraft equipment failures and adverse weather conditions. They exercised superb decision making skills based on their vast experience and extensive knowledge. The FAA and CAP regulations state that the pilot in command has ultimate authority concerning operation of the aircraft. The PIC also has final authority on whether to execute the flight based on current weather conditions. The decision to go/no go will always be decided by the pilot in command of the aircraft. The SP Green Flag West command staff will always support the pilot in command’s decision as long as it is within the scope of the regulations. The decision to conduct the flight will be made based on the latest weather forecast. The entire crew will show up for the morning brief to evaluate the current weather conditions. The go/no go decision will be made after the morning mission briefing. The pilot in command will be the final authority on whether to cancel the flight. //Signed// Harvey Irby, Lt Col, USAF-Aux, CAP SUAS Project Officer Green Flag West //Signed// Roy Campbell, Lt Col, USAF-Aux, CAP Assistant SUAS Project Officer Green Flag West //Signed// Joseph M Vallone, Lt Col, USAF-Aux, CAP Chief of Standards and Evaluation Green Flag Group Missions for America…Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education
