The Ellison Medical Foundation The current Ellison Medical Foundation policy regarding IP is similar to that of BWF - a very favorable and light touch, in my opinion. Kevin J. Intellectual Property Rights The Ellison Medical Foundation specifically desires, and the «FInstitution» agrees, that all research results shall be made available to the public as promptly as possible in keeping with The Ellison Medical Foundation’s commitment to free and open publication of research results to both validate findings and to allow other scientists to further advance work in the field. The Ellison Medical Foundation recognizes and endorses the «FInstitution»’s obligation to take steps to bring the practical applications of its research forward to public use and benefit. «FInstitution» agrees that it will provide a prompt, written notice to The Ellison Medical Foundation upon the issuance of any foreign or domestic patent in respect of the research or other work performed as part of the Project. Such notice shall contain reasonable detail regarding the patent claims and shall include a copy of the patent as issued by the patent authority. Nothing in this provision shall require «FInstitution» to file or prosecute patent applications in any jurisdictions or shall require the transfer or assignment of any intellectual property rights to The Ellison Medical Foundation.
