Each room is equipped with a cardiac monitor connected to a central monitor located at the nurse’s station. These cubicles are also equipped with piped in oxygen and suction machine, blood pressure apparatus, resuscitator bags, and iv infusion pumps. All rooms are equipped with cardiac monitors which features blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, O2 saturation, and temperature monitoring. The ICU caters adult, pediatric, and neonatal cases. Nurse/patient ratio usually 1:2 work volume depending on the cases handled 1. Receives and assesses patients and identifies their nursing needs. 2. Plans, gives, and evaluates nursing care. 3. Establishes airway, breathing, and circulation. 4. Performs emergency nursing measures to patients. 5. Ensures correct choice and placement of IV access. 6. Assists in positioning, moving, transferring and maintaining proper body alignment of patients. 7. Monitors and records vital signs. 8. Accompany attending physicians during rounds. 9. Carries out physician's legal orders. 10. Observes signs and symptoms, institute’s remedial action when appropriates and documents. 11. Reports observations to the physician. 12. Observes and responds to patient's emotional and spiritual needs. 13. Administers and documents medications and patients reactions to medications. 14. Ensures that medications administered are appropriate for clinical situation and are given in the correct dose, route, time and concentration. 15. Documents nursing care done completely and accurately. 16. Prepares patients for surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated. 17. Secures consent for management, operations and procedures. 18. Perform nursing activities such as bed bathing and oral hygiene. 19.
