My clinical skill-set is mainly in assessing and managing adult psychiatric disorders, but also in General hospital psychiatry, Early intervention, and Adolescent neurodevelopmental psychiatry. The latter includes assessment and managed of a range of developmental and psychiatric disorders in Young people. I have a track record in the UK, of developing high quality mental health services and setting up robust clinical governance and QA systems. More recently, I have had an active educational and training role as the Deputy DME and Training Program Director for UG and PG psychiatric training for the Manchester Deanery and Manchester Medical School. My research interests are around liaison & primary care psychiatry. In recognition of my contributions to psychiatry over the years, I was awarded a number of Clinical Excellence Awards in the NHS and have recently been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. MHPS Case Investigator and Case Manager for Lancashire Care Foundation NHS Trust: 2013-14 4 REGISTRATION ________ AP Medical Council: 36910 General Medical Council (GMC) registration (on specialist register): 5205521 OVERVIEW OF CLINICAL TRAINING & EXPERIENCE ___ PRESENT POST (since September 2014) Since returning to India, I have joined as a partner and a Senior Consultant at the Institute of Medical Psychology- Asha Kiran hospitals in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad and at Citizens Hospitals, Nallagandla. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE (until September 2014): 1. My most recent job in the UK before returning to India had two key components: clinical and academic-teaching. In June 2013, I was seconded to plan, set up and deliver a newly-commissioned specialist transitional-ADHD service across Lancashire, UK (which has a population of roughly 1.4 million). This involved a clinical needs assessment, planning the service model, developing service specifications (including clinical outcome, audit & quality measures), recruitment and selection of team members, setting up clinics and running the service. In my academic-teaching role, I was the Trust’s Clinical tutor (Dy DME eqv.) with the remit of managing all (PG and UG) training in Lancashire Care Foundation NHS Trust. I had an additional role as a Training Program Director at the North western Deanery in Manchester, UK. I was also the Undergraduate training lead for Manchester Medical School (as an honorary Senior Lecturer). 2. Consultant psychiatrist in an acute inpatient psychiatric unit for 16-18 years old young people from Lancashire. I was involved in setting up and developing this service, as well as working as a Consultant there from 2010-2013. I also acted as the Associate Medical Director for the network during this period (from 2012-13). 3. Consultant psychiatrist in General Psychiatry at Avondale unit, Preston (Lancashire Care Foundation NHS Trust) from July 2005 to February 2010. From 2005-7, my clinical commitment involved managing a combined community-inpatient sector. I 5 was a dedicated inpatient Consultant from 2007 to February 2010. Other aspects of this position included teaching/training responsibilities for speciality trainees (postgraduate, CT1), medical students, and research activities. Additional responsibilities: lead consultant for ECT (ECTAS accredited clinic), program organiser for postgraduate teaching in Central Lancashire, joint lead for undergraduate medical education (Mental health placements for year 4 students from Manchester Medical School posted in Preston). 4. Specialist registrar in General Adult Psychiatry in the North western deanery: 20032005: this involved specialist training at Senior Resident level with clinical, teaching and research (as part of MSc dissertation) responsibilities. During this period of training, I trained within the Manchester Liaison psychiatry service under Prof. Guthrie and Prof. Dickens. 5. Senior House Officer (MRCPsych course) in Psychiatry under the Lancashire and South Cumbria rotational training scheme in psychiatry from August 2000-May 2003: this was a period of specialist training in various psychiatric specialities (equivalent to junior resident- level). 6. Assistant Professor in Psychiatry from 1999-2000 at Institute of Mental Health, Hyderabad, India, and Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India (till July 2000): this involved an active role in clinical work, and undergraduate & postgraduate psychiatric teaching. 7.
