WP1 Project management
WP6 Consultation/
assessment
The first phase of the project has been mainly devoted to:
 the start-up of the project and of the network, together with
administrative assessment and reporting activity. See WP1 Project
management;
 the activity at national level for the analysis of the State of Play about
the ICT components that will contribute to the development of SEIS in
the different Partner Countries, according to a common analysis and
reporting template. See WP2 State of play at National level - task 2.1;
 the identification of good practices of ICT solutions for managing
environmental data and collection of relevant information about the
above practices according to a template, as well as the organisation of
the collected practices into the “NESIS Best Practice Catalogue”,
actually developed in a prototype version. See WP2 - task 2.2
“Analysis and best practices”;
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
 the definition of the structure of the ICT Roadmap for the
implementation of SEIS, together with the definition of the
structure of complementary “Guidelines on ICT supporting
environmental and monitoring”. See WP4 ICT roadmap
outlines;
 the NESIS network development at a National and European
level, including the effort for a consensus building of the
project. Moreover, the establishment of the NESIS web
site, the production of promotional material and the
organisation of NESIS workshops. See WP7 Networking and
dissemination.
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
The next phase of the project M7-8 to M12 will be devoted to
 the assessment of the State of Play at National level, and the
identification and collection of Best Practices, that are anyway
considered as a “living” tasks till the end of the project (ref WP2);
 the synthesis of the State of Play and its validation at European level
(ref. WP3);
 the assessment of the structure of the deliverables “ICT roadmap” and
“Guidelines on ICT supporting environmental and monitoring” and a
progress in their implementation (ref WP4);
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
 the development of the NESIS network throughout actions at National
and European level, such as the organisation of meetings and
workshops and the active participation in the main events related to
the NESIS mission. Particular effort will be dedicated to the country
scope enlargement of the network, with the involvement of
stakeholders representatives of countries not yet included in NESIS
(ref WP7).
 In this perspective, for example, a project workshop “SEIS/NESIS - ICT
Components for SEIS around Europe” has been proposed and accepted
in the context of the European Conference "Towards
eEnvironment" (Prague 25-27 March 2009);
 the links with other initiatives and actions related to the SEIS
implementation, such as the identification of priorities for further ICT
initiatives of DG INFSO and the establishment of a proactive
collaboration with the Technical Group of the SEIS Task Force.
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
Deviation from work plan
WP 1 - Project management
 Contract Amendment to formalise the substitution of APAT with
ISPRA. On the occasion, some minor ccorrections were also made
on DoW (Annex I to the Agreement).
 Shifting of one month of the date of the second project meeting,
scheduled on M7 instead of M6
 As consequence various project activities, such as the First
semester workshop and various deliverables planned for month 6,
have been postponed as well by one month.
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
WP 2 State of play at National Level
 Minor delay for the preparation of the templates for the report of
the State of Play and for the Best Practices collection,
 the State of Play (D 2.3) is considered as living deliverables. It will
be enriched during the project development and at the end of the
project a final release is expected, also to include the SoP of other
countries.
 In particular, the reports of the SoP will be considered, within the
WP3 – SoP synthesis and validation at EU level. Then, during this
activity an assessment of the SoP at National level is also planned.
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
WP4 ICT Roadmap outlines
 In the original proposal, the WP4 tasks were planned to start
after the first year of the project, in order to get inputs
from the WP2 and WP3 results.
 During the negotiation phase, it was agreed to anticipate the
Task 4.1 (ICT guidelines)
 During the project meetings, it came up the need to
consider both the documents since the first phase of the
project. That in order to be able to exploit in a better way
the complementarity between the two deliverables that will
be progressively developed in parallel during the project.
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
Proposed milestones and deliverables:

 D4.1.1 Draft document structure (M6)
 D4.1.2 Interim version (M18)
 D4.1.3 Final version (M30)
ICT Roadmap
 D4.2.1 Draft document structure (M6)
 D4.2.2 Draft version (M18)
To be followed the deliverables of WP5 and WP6:
 D5.1 ICT Roadmap (intermediate version) (M24)
 D6.2 ICT Roadmap final version for the Commission (M30)
Brussels, January 16th, 2009
WP7 Networking and dissemination
 shifting by one month for the organisation of the First
Semester Workshop (M7, instead of M6). That is order to
meet the opportunity to organise the NESIS workshop back
to back with a EIONET NRC IS meeting
 As a consequence, also the related deliverables have been
shifted
 About the National workshops, the Italian NESIS event was
anticipated to the first period to make profit of the SEIS
Country visit scheduled in September 2008.
