NARRATOR: You've selected the video and text guides for Topic 2, Getting started on the internet.
There are five videos and five text guides in this topic. I'm going to tell you a little about this topic
and introduce you to using the different video player controls.

and play it now.
Topic 2 covers some of the things you might need to know to get started on the internet.

NARRATOR: To choose a video, select the one you want from the video menu, also called the video
carousel which is below the video player.

NARRATOR: To start playing a video, select the play button from the video player controls.

NARRATOR: You can also select the play button in the middle of the video screen.

NARRATOR: Once the video is playing, you can pause it by selecting the pause button on the video
player controls.

NARRATOR: Or, you can just click on the video screen—that will also pause the video for you.

NARRATOR: The video player controls let you do other things too.
You can turn captions on and off by using the captions icon.
Captions will show you what is being said in the video by putting the transcript on the screen for
you. This transcript is also available as the text guide below each video.
DESCRIPTION: The blue arrow moves along the video control bar and clicks on the ‘Volume’ control
icon. A graphic appears showing high volume and low volume markers.
NARRATOR: You can adjust the volume of the video by using the volume icon. If you do this, but are
still not getting sound, you should check the volume or speaker controls on your computer.

NARRATOR: The last icon is for watching the video in full screen mode. Full screen mode will make
the video take up all of the space on your screen.

previous size.
NARRATOR: You can select the full screen icon again to return to the video playing within the
website.
DESCRIPTION: An icon appears in the centre of the screen with an arrow pointing left with the text,
‘Replay’. The blue arrow moves over it.
NARRATOR: At the end of the video, you will be able to watch the video again by choosing the replay
icon. Or, you can read what was said in the video by reading the text guide, which is a full transcript
of the video.
