POSITION GUIDE ORGANIZATION: United Way of Metropolitan Chicago POSITION: In Person Counselor - Grants Manager REPORTS TO: Director, Community Investment - Health Primary Purpose UWMC has submitted an application in response to the state of Illinois’ Department of Public Health’s RFP for In-Person Counselors (IPC). This Grants Manager position is a 1-year time-limited, grant-funded contract position. The Grants Manager is accountable for cultivating and nurturing healthy relationships with people across a wide network of constituencies and diverse cultures. Candidate should have high level knowledge and be able to articulate the Affordable Care Act. Essential Job Function Implements the grant and oversee the work of the sub-grantee agencies. Compiles and completes reports associated with the grant in a complete and timely manner. Serves as the primary resource for questions about the project throughout the community. Provides regular progress updates to UWMC team members as scheduled or needed. Oversees the work of up to 25 agencies and 50 agency staff (amount may vary depending upon award amount) Required Experience Bachelor’s Degree required in Nonprofit Management/Public Health. Strong passion for service and volunteerism required. Possess a collaborative leadership style, coupled with strong planning, organizing, marketing and analytical skills. Strong ability to think strategically, synthesize the most complex needs of the constituents and communities where interaction occurs and successfully develop innovative solutions to problems. Utilizes creative customer focused service skills to achieve desired results. Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with careful attention to details in a fast paced environment. Cultivates relationships and able to elicit cooperation across sectors and varying viewpoints. Strong customer service mentality is important. Excellent verbal, written, listening, and executive level presentation skills are required. Results oriented professional who has the ability to facilitate progressive change throughout the community. Proficient with Microsoft Office Environment (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experienced in general database concepts and use. Requires significant travel within the Chicago and South Suburban Communities, and access to reliable transportation is a must.
