Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Lydia Chang works as a consultant ophthalmic surgeon, specialising in Cataract and Glaucoma in the Moorfields at Bedford Hospital ophthalmic services team. Ms Chang’s ophthalmology training was based at the Royal Free Hospital, University of London and then at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She undertook two Glaucoma Fellowships: a research fellowship funded by the Wellcome Trust (culminating in her completion of a Doctorate of Medicine) and a clinical fellowship both based at Moorfields Eye Hospital. Ms Chang’s areas of special interest include: • Glaucoma (medical and surgical management). The glaucoma surgical procedures Lydia Chang specialises in include trabeculectomy (with or without anti‐wound healing drug augmentation), combined cataract and glaucoma filtration surgery (phaco‐trabeculectomy), drainage tube implantation, bleb needling, bleb revision, cyclodiode laser ciliary body ablation and laser iridotomy. • The management of cataract by small incision cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation. Research interests Ms Chang’s research fellowship investigated adverse wound healing and optimising glaucoma surgery which she has published in peer reviewed journals and presented at national and international meetings. Glaucoma Service Ms Chang’s glaucoma service runs at Bedford Hospital on Thursdays.
