Bulletin 1413 Capacitor Bank Controller Easy-to-Use Solution to Help Reduce Power Factor Penalties, kW Demand Charges and Release kVA Loading Benefits t Basic and advanced control of capacitor banks to help reduce power factor penalties and kVA demand charges t Ability to monitor and control VARs to multiple feeders t Advanced VAR control modes for precise power factor control t Simple addition of I/O for additional steps and functionality (e.g., alarming) t Local and remote communications capabilities for programming, viewing, sending information and alarming for real time electrical system status t Easy to configure and view through an optional display module t Full functioning real time power & energy monitoring (Hundreds of parameters captured, logged, and available within the PowerMonitor for taking action and/or passing to other systems displayed locally and/or remotely) t Open system architectures utilizing the familiarity with PLCs and standard off-the-shelf hardware t Seamless integration into Rockwell Automation and third- party HMI and SCADA systems Designed for various capacitor bank control applications, the Allen-Bradley® Bulletin 1413 Capacitor Bank Controller is a pre-engineered PLC-based solution. It combines standard, off-the-shelf, Allen-Bradley hardware with application programming necessary to perform power factor correction in one single package. The Allen-Bradley Capacitor Bank Controller is unique in its flexibility and adaptability compared with other standard, fixed-function capacitor control products available in the market today. Start using this powerful, affordable, and easy to use solution to help reduce power factor penalties, kW demand charges, and release kVA loading. Description The Capacitor Bank Control system consists of a MicroLogix™ 1400 controller, one or more PowerMonitor™ 1000s, a standard that is built-in the MicroLogix 1400 controller, and an optional Human-Machine Interface (HMI). Pre-engineered programming in the controller gathers real and reactive power data from up to four power feeds including utility feeds and/or generators. The logic operates on the data in standard engineering units of kVAR & kW and acts to minimize imported and exported reactive power by switching up to ten individually switched capacitor groups. This strategy controls power factor within specified limits while providing the flexibility to modify the system to meet the specific requirements of the application. 6 / 2011 www.klinkmann.com Features Options t "VUPBOEPSNBOVBMTUFQTJ[FDPOöHVSBUJPO t Up to three additional PowerMonitors to aggregate up to four total feeds t %JTDIBSHFUJNFSPOFBDITUFQ t PanelView™ Component HMI terminal with Ethernet communications t 4FMFDUBCMFPQFSBUJOHNPEFT – Manual operation – First-in, Last-out (FILO) – Balanced – Distribute usage of capacitor steps – Best Fit – Finds best match of capacitor step size to system kVAR needs t "MBSNT – Bad step, indicates blown fuse, capacitor failure – Target power factor not achieved – High / Low voltage t 1PXFS.POJUPSEBUBDPODFOUSBUFEJOUPUIF.JDSP-PHJY controller and displayed with an optional HMI 1 MicroLogix 1400 base unit with: 120/240V AC control power, (12) 24V DC inputs and (12) relay outputs t .FUFSJOHQIBTFDVSSFOUMJOFWPMUBHFGSFRVFODZSFBM and reactive power, power factor MicroLogix 1400 PowerMonitor 1000 PanelView Component C600 1413-CAP-ME Ethernet Ethernet None 1413-CAP-ME-PE Ethernet Ethernet Ethernet Catalog Number 2 PowerMonitor 1000 EM3 Ethernet 3 PanelView Component C600 Touch monochrome 1 DC OUT + 24V IN0 IN2 IN1 IN3 COM 1 IN5 IN7 IN8 IN10 COM3 IN13 IN15 IN17 IN19 NC NC IN4 IN6 COM2 IN9 IN11 IN12 IN14 IN16 IN18 NC NC NC COM COMMO COMM1 DCO M2 BAT MM .LO U-D ISP COM1 62 MicroLogix 1400 MEMORY MODULE +:* VAC L1 VAC L2/N OUT 0 OUT 1 OUT 2 OUT 3 OUT 4 VAC DC5 OUT 7 OUT 8 OUT 10 NC NC VAC DC0 VAC DC1 VAC DC2 VAC DC3 VAC DC4 OUT 5 OUT 6 VAC DC6 OUT 9 OUT 11 NC DC IN RELAY OUT AC POWER 3 Optional Ethernet HMI Ethernet Local Area Network by Customer RS-485 RS-485 RX ACT PowerMonitor 1000 LNK + - TX STATUS RS-485 7V^LYTVUP[VY Mod Net SHLD RS-485 RX ACT LNK + - TX STATUS RS-485 7V^LYTVUP[VY RS-485 Mod Net SHLD RX ACT LNK + - TX STATUS RS-485 7V^LYTVUP[VY Mod Net RS-485 RX SHLD ACT LNK + - TX STATUS 7V^LYTVUP[VY Mod Net SHLD Optional Additional PowerMonitors 2 Allen-Bradley, MicroLogix, PanelView and PowerMonitor are trademarks of Rockwell Automation, Inc.
