Diseases of Prof. E. Wanker at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in
Berlin-Buch is currently offering the position of Research Associate – Engineer (m/f)
with a Focus on laboratory automation for high-throughput protein-protein-interaction
research.
The main objective of our work is to understand the pathomechanisms of neurodegenerative disorders
such as Huntington's and Alzheimer’s disease. One focus of our work lies on the analysis of proteinprotein-interactions and their perturbation using high-throughput screening approaches. Working in a
team of scientists and technicians, the successful applicant’s main task will be to maintain existing
automation processes and to establish new automated systems for protein-protein interaction
screenings.
Job Description:
 Optimization of existing automation processes
 Programming and establishment of new automation processes
 Supervision of high-throughput screenings
 Data analysis
 Yeast and mammalian cell culture
 General lab work
Your Profile:
 Masters/diploma degree in biotechnology, computational biology, biochemical engineering,
automation technology or other relevant subjects
 You possess basic programming skills
 Ideally, you have experience with automation solutions (Tecan, Beckman, Hamilton,
Kbiosystems, etc.)
 High motivation to acquire new techniques and workflows (molecular biology, protein
biochemistry)
 You show a high degree of resilience, flexibility and ability to work in a team
 You work independently, systematically and reliably
We offer:
 Diverse activities in a challenging academic environment, with comprehensive opportunities
for the development of innovative methods
 Semi-automated and automated robotic systems for yeast-, DNA- and cell culture work
