The research group Proteomics and Molecular Mechanisms of Neurodegenerative Diseases of Prof. E. Wanker at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin-Buch is currently offering the position of Research Associate – Engineer (m/f) with a Focus on laboratory automation for high-throughput protein-protein-interaction research. The main objective of our work is to understand the pathomechanisms of neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington's and Alzheimer’s disease. One focus of our work lies on the analysis of proteinprotein-interactions and their perturbation using high-throughput screening approaches. Working in a team of scientists and technicians, the successful applicant’s main task will be to maintain existing automation processes and to establish new automated systems for protein-protein interaction screenings. Job Description: Optimization of existing automation processes Programming and establishment of new automation processes Supervision of high-throughput screenings Data analysis Yeast and mammalian cell culture General lab work Your Profile: Masters/diploma degree in biotechnology, computational biology, biochemical engineering, automation technology or other relevant subjects You possess basic programming skills Ideally, you have experience with automation solutions (Tecan, Beckman, Hamilton, Kbiosystems, etc.) High motivation to acquire new techniques and workflows (molecular biology, protein biochemistry) You show a high degree of resilience, flexibility and ability to work in a team You work independently, systematically and reliably We offer: Diverse activities in a challenging academic environment, with comprehensive opportunities for the development of innovative methods Semi-automated and automated robotic systems for yeast-, DNA- and cell culture work Broad space for personal development of the employee Full-time position, initially limited to 12 months Employment, compensation and benefits are governed by the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD – Bund), salary level is based on personal qualifications
