Voluntary Blood Donor Group Formation by Continuous Health Education (CHE) Preface During the treatment of cancer /AIDS, the blood transfusion or it component require to often to maintain haemoglobin & other blood component within normal range. Actually, chemotherapy check the production new cell, the sever impact comes on the short life cells of the diseased person. The Red Blood Corpuscles (RBC) , containing haemoglobin responsible for transportation of solid &gases, White Blood Corpuscles (WBC)- responsible for immunity , Platelets , responsible for blood coagulation. The normal life span of RBC, WBC & platelets is 120, 3-200, 7-14 days respectively. These blood cells are get replaced by new ones, in normal course. But during cancer treatment, new cell formation process get altered or checked. So, the blood transfusion is the only option left for normal physiological function. In the course getting the blood or its component , either lot of money expensed or very difficult to find out the blood donor & quality of blood or component is not assured . Its a traumatic situation for the patient’s dependents. The AIDS – this an immune deficiency diseases , the HIV gradually destroying the three stage WBC immune system . so make over , regular transfusion requires to the patient . There are huge gap in demand & supply ratio of blood & its component availability. To bridge the gap & at same time , to boost the health status of a normal human being the continuous blood donation awareness & collection camps are the only answer . Actually, the blood donation after every six month by an individual helps to others & lower the burden on liver , spleen & kidney of donor as well. Its also rejuvenates the bone marrow – this an physiological mechanism of the body. One donor can save the life or ease traumatic situation of four individual. So , the CARFQL formulated a systematic blood donation awareness & collection camps drive , with the support of Blood Bank & Dep’t radiotherapy of CSM Medical University , Lucknow, community , colleges , media , social organisation & corporate sector for cancer & AIDS patients. Goal: - Bridge the gap of blood demand & supply for Cancer & AIDS patient Objective: 1. To facilitate the cancer & AIDS patient for getting the standard blood & its components. 2. To provide health benefit (physiological & psychological) to Blood Donor. 3. To ignite the human touch feels in community. Activity: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Listing of blood donors groups, through blood donation awareness lectures. Listing of Cancer & AIDS patient groups. Organising the continuous blood donations camps. Providing, the privilege cards to Cancer & AIDS patient groups through Blood bank. Appeal to colleges, universities, institutions, and social organisation, and corporate sector, media for seeking to support the drive for this social cause. 6. Provide the beneficiaries list to the donors & supports (colleges, universities, institutions, social organisations, corporate sector and media). 7. Fund raising activities.
