Intern Training Plan This guide provides a detailed plan for the Field Training Officer and the ALS Intern to follow as the Intern learns the ______________ Department’s protocols and policies. Each time the Intern works on the Medic Unit, he/she is given a list of topics to review. Each topic includes a recommended amount of study time. However, some topics may require less time to study and some will require many more hours. The Intern must take a written quiz on all the material presented in each session prior to continuing their study in subsequent sessions. The Intern will use the Intern Training Sheets, the __________ Department Protocol Manual, and the __________ Department Policy and Procedure Manual as a study reference. In addition, Interns and FTOs should utilize resources such as EMS textbooks and SOPs available in station libraries. If the Intern’s FTO and supervisor do not feel the Intern has adequately mastered the tasks by the suggested hours, the Intern will continue practicing those tasks prior to learning new tasks. It is the Intern’s responsibility to get extra help from the FTO if he/she hasn’t mastered the material. The Interns are expected to retain knowledge from previous days as well as the current material. Each session quiz will be cumulative, covering all topics outlined in the manual up to that point.
