Department of Biology
Assistant Professor
Position:
Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology (tenure-track, full-time, 9-month contract).
Responsibilities:
Teaching undergraduate biology courses, including foundational courses in the biology major,
genetics, and advanced courses depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental need.
Participation in scholarly activities, academic advising to students, and department, college and
university service is required. It is expected that the successful candidate remain professionally
active in the biology community.
Qualifications:
A doctorate in biology or closely related field completed by August 1, 2013, a strong background
in genetics, strong commitment to undergraduate education, willingness to collaborate with
students and colleagues, and commitment to become involved in university service are required.
Experience teaching and directing research at the undergraduate level and a broad biology
background are preferred. Demonstrable oral and written communications skills are required.

Department of Biology
The Department of Biology has 18 faculty and staff members. The department offers an
undergraduate degree in biology with emphases in biohealth/physiology, botany, cytotechnology,
ecology, molecular/genetics, secondary education, and zoology. We emphasize experiential
learning and have up-to-date, well-equipped labs and classrooms in Boebel Hall.
